Safe, convenient viewing of Sandhill cranes during their spring migration is offered from this unique site, two miles south of the Alda I-80 Interchange.
In January 2022, this Alda Crane Viewing site was awarded a grant through the Recreational Trails Program (RTP) administered by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. Expect the following upgrades coming soon:
- Replacing the existing trail with a new 1,047-foot-long, 10' wide, 6" thick, concrete recreational trail
- Paving the three existing gravel parking lots to make the area fully ADA accessible
- Replacing the 30-year-old wooden viewing platform
- Adding Quartzite riprap to secure streambank
