Keeping Nebraska Local: NRDs Protect The Future

Keeping Nebraska Local: NRDs Protect The Future

NRDs engage with students of all ages to teach them the importance of conserving and protecting our natural resources. This segment takes the viewer out in the field with second graders on a scavenger hunt at Recharge Lake in York; to Platte River State Park with Lincoln high school students who learn to search for macroinvertebrates in the stream to gauge water quality; and on a range judging competition in the Panhandle. Through activities like these, and the annual statewide Envirothon competition, student gain a deeper understanding of nature, and sometimes find the path to their professions. Go to our NRD Education page to learn more about a variety of education programs the NRDs run.
