Central Platte NRD to Meet on February 27
(GRAND ISLAND, NE) The Central Platte Natural Resources District will hold their monthly Board of Directors meeting at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 27, 2014. The meeting will be held at the NRD office located at 215 Kaufman Avenue in Grand Island, NE.
-NRCS Report: James Huntwork, USDA-NRCS district liaison, will report to the board.
-Public Request: David Burkholder, Dawson County Drainage District #4, will request assistance for a road structure.
-Variance/Appeals Sub-Committee
On the committee's agenda:
-Landowner appeals, Dawson and Merrick counties, on determination of their irrigated acres.
-Discussion on possible updates to the NRD's Rules & Regulations.
-Programs Committee: The committee will review proposed budgets for the cost share and information/education programs for the Fiscal 2015 budget. The committee will also consider renaming the college scholarship program to honor the late Ron Bishop.
-Eastern Projects Committee: The committee will review bids for tree clearing on the Upper Prairie/Silver/Moores Flood Control Project. Jesse Mintken, projects manager, will give an update on the overall project.
-Water Resources Committee: The committee will consider recommendations from the Variance/Appeals Sub-Committee's meeting.
-Canals: Jesse Mintken, projects manager, will have an update on the canal rehabs in Dawson County.
-Legislation: Mark Czaplewski, biologist, will have an update on natural resources bills.
-State Fair: The board will consider contributing $1,000 towards the natural resources display to be located in the Nebraska Agricultural Experience Building. The Nebraska Association of Resources Districts plans to contribute $2,000 and has requested $1,000 from each of the 23 NRDs to contribute a total of $25,000 towards the display.
-NARD Foundation: Jim Bendfeldt, director, will present a request to retire the NARD Foundation Ron Bishop football with an annual donation to the Foundation.
-Other: As may develop prior to the board meeting.
COMMITTEES/BOARD AGENDA:
-Election: Dianne Miller, administrative director, will report on current filings for the November board election.
