The North Platte Natural Resources District (NRD) is once again conducting its annual Conservation Poster Contest.  The 2018 theme is “Watersheds – Our Water, Our Home” and the entry must be returned to the NRD office no later than close of business, Monday, Nov. 12. 

Contest coordinator David Wolf explains the importance of protecting our watersheds “Watersheds are a dynamic and integral part of the water cycle.”  Wolf said.  “It is important for everyone to know where their water is coming from and how we can balance the need to protect this valuable resource with human, plant, and animal needs.” 

 Wolf is hoping to get 200 entries this year, and there are cash prizes for the top three places in each of the divisions.  Schools, home schools, daycares, church groups, and other youth organizations are welcome to encourage kids to enter the poster contest.  Wolf is available to present to classes or groups. 

            The contest is open to all K-12 students in Banner, Garden, Morrill, Scotts Bluff, and southern Sioux Counties.  First, second and third place winners in each of the four age divisions (Grades K-1; 2-3; 4-6, 7-8 and 9-12) will receive a cash prize, media recognition and be featured on the NPNRD’s website. Entry deadline is November 12, 2018.

            Poster size must be no smaller than 8.5” by 11” or no larger than 22” by 28” and originally designed and completed by the entrant. All submitted posters must include the entrant’s full name, age, grade, and school, address and phone number on the back.
