BUTTE, Nebraska -- The Lower Niobrara Natural Resources District (NRD), in partnership with the University of Nebraska Conservation and Survey Division (CSD) and the Nebraska Environmental Trust (NET), are releasing a public link to view real-time static water levels at 18 locations across the Lower Niobrara NRD. 

The release of the HydroVu link is the final step of a four-year, $272,000 NET grant project that was conducted by Lower Niobrara NRD with CSD as a technical partner. The total scope of the grant included identifying new monitoring well sites across the District, drilling test holes at 14 sites, collecting test hole data, designing 19 monitoring wells, constructing the monitoring wells, sampling groundwater quality, measuring groundwater quantity, and instrument installation and implementation. 

Pressure transducers at the sites record static water levels every four hours, and the telemetry units upload data every 24 hours from each location to HydroVu. HydroVu can be used to view monitoring well data sites individually or comparatively in hydrograph format over the last seven days, last 30 days, last 365 days, or all data points.  The data can also be viewed over generalized area groupings in dashboard format. Convenient maps show the location of each monitoring well site.

The data collected will be added to the Lower Niobrara NRD’s 40-year groundwater database and used in decision-making processes to monitor and manage groundwater programs in the District.
