Central Platte NRD to Decide on Platte Valley Industrial Park Alternative

10/11/2024

GRAND ISLAND, Nebraska - The Central Platte Natural Resources District (CPNRD) Board of Directors will review and vote on the most feasible route for the Platte Valley Industrial Park (PVIP) drainage project during their October meeting. In 2019, the CPNRD approved a proposal from the City of Grand Island and the Grand Island Area Economic Development Corporation (EDC) to address water diversion needs for the PVIP. The goal was to alleviate drainage issues within the park area, located between South Locust Street and Highway 281, by redirecting water into the south channel of the Wood River Flood Control Project. Earlier this year, alternate routes were looked at to direct water from Schimmer Drive to the north side of South Locust Street and into the main drainage ditch. Once a final route is selected, construction timelines and bid dates will be determined. CPNRD will manage construction and right-of-way acquisitions within the city limits.

The Board will meet at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at the CPNRD office located at 215 Kaufman Avenue in Grand Island, Nebraska.
