New Trail Moves Forward
Papio-Missouri River NRD Board Approves New Section of West Papio Trail
At this meeting, the Board of Directors approved a contract with MFT Construction for thebuilding of a new segment of the popular West Papio Trail. The new trail segment will extend the heavily-used West Papio Trail along the West Papio Creek from near 90 th St. northwest to Giles Rd.
The NRD will pay 75% of the $545,524 cost with the City of Papillion contributing 20% and the City of LaVista 5%. “We were able to save a lot of tax dollars because of an excellent bid,” said John Winkler, NRD General Manager. “These trails are a major contributor to our quality of life,” he said. The engineers estimate for the construction totaled $831,000. Work on the trail will begin in November.
