LINCOLN, Nebraska – The Lower Platte South Natural Resources District (LPSNRD) Board of Directors convened for their latest meeting, and the session was filled with significant decisions and dynamic discussions that promise to enhance our community’s environmental landscape.

Highlights from the meeting include:
Financial Approvals and Future Planning The Finance & Planning Subcommittee presented a comprehensive review, resulting in the approval of financial reports covering July 2024. The board also greenlit the FY2025 Budget Resolution, paving the way for a robust fiscal year ahead.
Urban Development Initiatives In an engaging report from the Urban Subcommittee, several key recommendations were brought forward:

  • Beaver Lake Association Dam Rehabilitation: The board unanimously approved a crucial cost-share arrangement for the Beaver Lake Association’s dam rehabilitation project. This initiative will see the district cover 50% of eligible study costs, up to $110,614, ensuring vital infrastructure improvements at Beaver Lake.
  • Salt Creek Rehabilitation and Repair: With a focus on improving local waterways, the board endorsed the low bid of $414,436.43 from M.E. Collins Contracting for the Salt Creek Rehabilitation and Repair Project. This move aims to address essential repairs and enhancements to Salt Creek.
  • Deadmans Run Flood Reduction Project: The board also approved a significant contract amendment with Houston Engineering, totaling $2,590,009.00, to advance the Deadmans Run Flood Reduction Project. This project, a collaborative effort with the City of Lincoln, is set to receive a thorough legal review before finalization.

Cost-Share Applications: The Land Resources Subcommittee played a key role in advancing sustainability, with approval granted for twenty-three cost-share applications amounting to $347,358.00. These grants will support various local projects aimed at enhancing land and water resources.
