Wanahoo Primitive Camping Opens Ahead of Holiday Weekend
Wanahoo Primitive Camping Opens Ahead of Holiday Weekend
WAHOO, Nebraska – The Lower Platte North Natural Resources District (LPNNRD) announced the opening of two vault toilets at Lake Wanahoo NRD Recreation Area for the upcoming holiday weekend. In March, the LPNNRD made the decision to close all of the restrooms along with the shower building and playgrounds at Lake Wanahoo due to the pandemic.
In an effort to allow primitive camping in the park, one vault toilet along the southwest edge of the lake in the primitive camping area will be opened. Another vault toilet will open near the boat ramp on the west side of the lake.
LPNNRD is asking the public for their cooperation and assistance while using the restrooms to maintain cleanliness. The restrooms will be supplied with cleaner, disinfecting spray and hand sanitizer. We ask all individuals to utilize the items to keep the facilities as safe as possible. Please be advised if we are unable to keep restrooms stocked with supplies due to misuse or theft, we will be forced to once again close our facilities.
Many of the previous restrictions put in place in April remain:
- Playgrounds closed
- Shower house remains closed
- Limit gatherings to 10 or less
- Online reservations are now available for half of the camping sites
- If you have been sick in the last two weeks, please stay at home
- Pack extra soap and/or hand sanitizer
LPNNRD continues to monitor the situation daily. Thank you for your patience and support of Lake Wanahoo as we all work together to keep each other safe!
