Central Platte NRD Board to Select Search Committee for Sub-District 8
GRAND ISLAND, Nebraska – The Central Platte Natural Resources District’s (CPNRD) Board of Directors will select a Search Committee to fill the vacancy in Sub-District 8, previously held by LeRoy Arends of Grand Island. Arends passed away in March and had been a director on the Board since 2005. Sub-District 8 is located in Grand Island. A map of the area is available at https://www.cpnrd.org/about/directors. The position is a two-year term to end in December 2024.
The Central Platte NRD’s monthly meeting will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 27, at the CPNRD office located at 215 Kaufman Avenue in Grand Island, NE.
-Natural Resources Conservation Service Joe Krolikowski, District Conservationist, and Janelle Taubenheim, Resource Conservationist of Kearney, will report.
-Groundwater Management Plan The Board will review proposed changes to the CPNRD’s Groundwater Management Plan and set a public hearing date/time.
-College Scholarships The Programs Committee will review applications for the CPNRD-Ron Bishop Memorial College Scholarship Program. Up to five $1,000 scholarships are awarded to college students annually. Applicants must be a college junior, senior or graduate student enrolled in a natural resources course of study at an accredited college or university. The Committee’s recommendation will be taken to the Board.
-Violation Report Luke Zakrzewski, GIS Image Analyst, will give an update on landowners/producers who received violation notices on land that was irrigated without proper certification or through a transfer.
-Manager’s Report Lyndon Vogt, General Manager, will report.
-Nebraska Association of Resources District Deb VanMatre, CPNRD Representative, will report.
-Nebraska Natural Resources Commission Mick Reynolds, Middle Platte Basin Representative, will report.
-2024 FY Budget The Eastern Projects, Western Projects and Programs committees will review budget needs for the 2024 Fiscal Year.
-Cost-Share Applications through the Nebraska Soil and Water Conservation and the Central Platte NRD cost-share programs will be considered.
