Central Platte NRD Offers Education Scholarships
GRAND ISLAND, Nebraska -- The Central Platte Natural Resources District (CPNRD) provides financial scholarships for college assistance, high school range camp, and middle-school Adventure Camp.
College juniors and seniors seeking a natural resources degree may apply for a scholarship through the CPNRD-Ron Bishop Memorial Scholarship Program. Eligible career fields include agriculture, plant and soil biology, engineering, resources management, environmental education, geology, earth science, hydrology and other natural resources related careers. Five (5) scholarships will be awarded at $1,000 per student for the 2022-2023 academic year. Return applicants and recipients are eligible to apply. Applicants or their parent(s) must reside within CPNRD boundaries which reach from Gothenburg to Columbus along the Platte River. High school students may apply for a scholarship to attend the Nebraska Youth Range Camp hosted by the Society of Range Management. It consists of a dynamic curriculum for students ages 14-18 years old with a wide array of interests in rangeland management, conservation, ecology, animal science and wildlife. The camp cost is $100 and CPNRD provides $100 scholarship reimbursements for students who attend the full camp. Range camp will be held June 6-9 in Curtis, Nebraska. Registration deadline is May 20, 2022.
Middle school students may apply for scholarships to attend ACE-Adventure Camp About the Environment hosted by Nebraska’s Natural Resources Districts for 6th-8th graders. Camp core sessions include forestry, water, range, soils and wildlife. It’s four days of exploring, learning, and outdoor fun including tubing, zip line, water rockets, and more! The camp cost is $235 and CPNRD provides a $100 scholarship towards cost. The camp will be held Sunday, June 26 through Wednesday, June 29 at the State 4-H Camp in Halsey, Nebraska. Registration deadline is June 10, 2022.
