Tri-Basin NRD Sets Annual IPA Meetings
Tri-Basin NRD Sets Annual IPA Meetings
Staff and directors from Tri-Basin Natural Resources District (NRD) will meet with landowners involved in the district’s Improvement Project Areas (IPA) on Friday, March 9. Members of the Kearney County IPA steering committees (South Dry Creek IPA, Fort Kearny-West IPA, Whiskey Slough IPA, and Fort Kearny IPA) will meet at the Axtell Community Building starting at 9 a.m. Meetings for the Phelps County IPAs (Sacramento IPA, North Dry Creek IPA, and Odessa IPA) will be held at Tri-Basin NRD in Holdrege, beginning at 2 p.m.
IPAs are a cooperative effort between Tri-Basin NRD and landowners to provide and maintain drainage improvements in areas of high water tables or runoff; this improves productivity of land that benefits from these projects. Landowners in the affected areas fund the improvement projects through assessments to their property taxes.
The purpose of the annual IPA meetings is to discuss progress of ongoing projects and propose new improvements to the areas, as well as to set assessment rates for 2018. Anyone interested in the management of these IPAs is encouraged to attend.
