The Lower Big Blue Natural Resources District (NRD) has seven director positions up for election in 2020. Two director positions are up for election in Subdistrict One and one position from each of the other five subdistricts. The term of office will be four years beginning January 2021, except for one position in Subdistrict One that is a two-year term.
Incumbents have until Feb. 18, 2020, to file with the Nebraska Secretary of State’s office. Non-incumbents have until March 2, 2020, to file with the Secretary of State. To be eligible for these positions, the applicant must reside in the subdistrict they are filing for and be a registered voter in Nebraska.
The Lower Big Blue NRD is made up of portions of Gage, Saline, Jefferson and Pawnee counties. Directors receive a per diem for each meeting they attend and are reimbursed for actual expenses incurred while on official NRD business. The board meets monthly on the last Thursday of the month in Beatrice.
