Water Quality Program Coordinator - Lower Platte North NRD, Wahoo
The Lower Platte North NRD headquartered in Wahoo, Nebraska, seeks a Water Quality Program Coordinator. This is a full-time, salaried position with a comprehensive benefits package and requires a bachelor’s degree. Hiring salary range: $60,000 to $75,000 annually depending upon qualifications and relevant experience. The position is responsible for the Source Water Protection program district wide and the National Water Quality Initiative program in the Wahoo Creek watershed. FULL JOB DESCRIPTION
Essential Functions:
- Coordinate Source Water Protection activities in Wellhead Protection Areas within the LLPNNRD.
- Coordinate National Water Quality Initiative activities within the Wahoo Creek watershed.
- Conduct outreach and provide technical assistance to landowners and producers.
- Work with NRCS to obligate EQIP cost-share funds in priority areas.
- Conduct workshops, field days, and other events regarding resource concerns.
- Collaborate with partners who have complimentary programs and available resources.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in geology, engineering, natural resources management, water resources management, environmental sciences, agriculture or graduate work in any of the previously mentioned disciplines.
- Experience in water resource management, conservation, or related field.
- General knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws, rules, and regulations regarding groundwater and surface water resources.
- Understanding of geology, agronomy, environmental monitoring, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and groundwater modeling.
- Experience coordinating programs and/or projects.
- Experience establishing productive relationships with Federal, State, and Local government officials, employees, co-workers, and a diverse set of stakeholders.
- Experience communicating to a wide variety of audiences both written and oral.
- Within one year of employment, ability to obtain and keep a Natural Resource Water Technician license.
- Must have and keep a valid driver’s license and be insurable in Nebraska.
- Ability to occasionally travel overnight.
- Ability to lift 40 pounds, ability to climb, bend, and stoop, ability to work in outdoor temperature extremes, ability to walk on uneven terrains, regular and reliable attendance.
